Common Misconceptions about Weight Loss

Weight loss plans are difficult to stick to. Thanks to the growing number of bogus products that are advertised around every corner. The popular misconceptions have spread the ring of truth, which actually works against the people who try to lose weight. Various falsehoods around weight loss that impede rather helping people in reaching and maintaining a healthy weight. These include:
Count and reduce calories to lose weight:
The above statement is partially true. Basically, it’s for overweight people who need to be very conscious of  how many calories they eat per day and reduce the amount until they reach their final goal. Whereas, healthy weight loss is different from eating fewer calories, as the important question is, where the calories are coming?

Calories are very important for fuelling the body’s energy. These should come primarily from fresh, whole foods like vegetables, beans, fruits, legumes, brown rice, and quinoa. Calories from processed foods like pizza, soda, cookies and other non-whole foods should be completely avoided, if you want to lose weight.
Skipping meals is a good way to lose weight:
This is not the good way, perhaps this is one of the worst things you can do to lose weight. Whenever you skip a meal, your body goes into starvation mode and store calories as fat. A negative fact of skipping any meal is that people end up in eating more calories as they never presumed. Moreover, fasting doesn’t accelerate weight loss, eating enough of the right kind of foods does.
So, always have your breakfast and figure out the foods which work better for you and schedule your meals and snacks accordingly.
You should never eat fast food:
Fast foods are bad for health, but quitting them is not the solution because these foods may work better into your meal plan if you choose well. Try to opt for grilled foods instead of fried ones. You can also have fast foods by avoiding high-fat condiments like mayonnaise and cheese to limit the calories content.
Don’t weigh yourself:
This is one of the biggest misconceptions that people shouldn’t weigh themselves, when they are following a weight loss plan. But, their perception is wrong, as it is important for a person to weigh him daily because weight machine will tell him in real time that what he is doing is working or not. It’s a genuine fact that nobody can lose his/her weight overnight, but measuring yourself on a daily basis will provide the overview in which direction the body is going.

So, try to weigh yourself daily. This would be the first preferable thing in the morning for you before your meal. If you are dropping consistent numbers, then keep doing what you are doing. Moreover, if you find unusual results, then try to figure out the cause.
